Personal boundaries are what make us comfortable in our relationships and lives. They fall into three main categories:
1. Porous boundaries:
These are boundaries where there are no clear borders between you and others. You might allow people to take advantage of you or drain your energy. You might often put others before yourself and have difficulty saying no.
2. Rigid boundaries:
These are boundaries where you keep others at a distance and don't allow people to get close to you emotionally. You might withhold care and support to keep others at a distance and might get angry quickly when your boundaries are crossed.
3. Healthy boundaries:
These are boundaries that respect your needs while considering the needs of others. You give support but prevent burnout by taking care of yourself. You appropriately open up with trust and communicate your needs clearly and calmly.
